Well, I was happy, because I was back on the internet! XP cd in drive. reaching install now and repair option screen, i can't go any further .while clicking either install now or repair it aint going any further. You can ask him to follow this procedure !!
You do not need your friend's hard disk to save the data first. Chkdsk /p was a bust but Chkdsk /r did the trick!!! Worked for me too. How To Fix Unmountable Boot Volume Xp Without Cd Any ideas?

I can still access my hard disk in the load drivers option, and can see all my original files so thats good? I am afraid to assume this is fixed and can’t find any advice/solutions that go beyond the ‘chkdsk /p(r)’ and ‘fixboot commands, and am worried my problem is deeper than that quick and easy and too the point.
