it worked like a charm on my old Dell desktop! I saw something that said the chkdsk /r command would erase data. I have the window xp reinstall disck installed. And the "chkdsk /p" has a SPACE in it. It saved me the trouble of re-installing windows! I do have the operating system discs too...just afraid to use them and clear my documents out.
